Creating a new community hub for Wyesham

We’re a volunteer group of committed Wyesham locals, looking to create a vibrant, inclusive community space.

The Hive will be the bustling heart of the village, designed to bring people together, support our community and provide a safe space for all.

We’d love you to join our journey.

Our Vision

A community space that offers something for everyone in Wyesham and the local area.

Our aim is to create a modern, environmentally-friendly building with a large, light-filled ground floor. This flexible space has countless possibilities. Maybe as a:

  • Community Café - serving fresh and affordable food and drinks

  • Education space - including cooking and life skills lessons

  • Youth club - as there are presently no facilities

  • Craft workshops – lantern making, kids' craft workshops

  • Exercise space - Yoga, Pilates, dance and more.

The chosen location is the site of the former Girl’s Brigade Hut - behind the local Morrisons, next to Kymin View school. A central location that is tucked away from the main road through the village.

How we're going to get there

1

Create a CIC

Our committed team of volunteers is organising into a Community Interest Company (CIC). This will give us the foundation to apply for grants and funding.

2

Buy the plot

Once the funding is in place, the plot of land behind Morrisons and beside Kymin View School will be purchased on behalf of everyone in Wyesham

3

Level the land

Unfortunately, the old Girl's Brigade Hut is beyond repair. The first task will be to demolish the building and clear the land

4

Open for public use

Once the land is levelled, the reclaimed space will be open to enjoy. A new place for a sunny day, or maybe somewhere to find a drink at a pop-up cafe.

5

Construction begins

Once the building designs are finalised and all the funding is in place, construction of The Hive can begin!

6

The Hive is here

Our new community hub is ready to benefit us all.
